Welcome to Balance Counselling and Wellbeing - I’m really glad you’re here.
Balance Counselling & Wellbeing was born from a moment in my life that changed everything. In 2019, I received a significant health diagnosis that required me to pause and reassess what truly mattered. While it was confronting and life-altering, it also created space for deep reflection. I found myself asking what truly mattered and the answer was simple: I wanted to help people in a more meaningful, human, hands-on way.
After a long career working across state and federal disability services, including the NDIS, I knew it was time to pivot. I wanted to step away from systems and processes and move closer to people: to sit alongside them, listen deeply, and support them where they are.
If you’ve found your way here, chances are life hasn’t felt particularly balanced lately. You might be living with a chronic condition or illness, navigating disability, caring for someone else, ageing and adjusting to change, or simply feeling worn down by everything life asks of you. My hope is that as you read this, you feel a small sense of calm and relief and perhaps think, someone actually gets this.
While everyone’s experience is unique, I understand what it’s like to have life interrupted, plans reshaped, and certainty replaced with questions. That understanding sits quietly at the heart of Balance.
West Beach is my home, my community, and my grounding place. The coast has a way of offering perspective - steady, constant, and unhurried. Much of Balance Counselling & Wellbeing was imagined while sitting on a sandy dune, watching the ocean, reflecting on life, and thinking about how support could feel gentler, more respectful, and more human.
Balance is a boutique practice, primarily supporting adults living with chronic illness, NDIS participants, older people, and carers. That said, our doors are open. If what you’re reading resonates with you, you are welcome here.
At the core of Balance are simple but important values: respect, empowerment, and care that honours your lived experience. Counselling here isn’t about fixing you or sending you on a “journey.” It’s about creating space to be heard, supported, and empowered to move forward in a way that feels right for you
If you’re looking for support that is calm, grounded, and centred on who you are I’d love to hear from you.
You don’t have to do this alone.
