How much does counselling cost?

Counselling is charged at $156.16 (for a 50-minute session with 10 minutes for preparation and notes). Travel within 5km of West Beach SA 5024 is complimentary. Distances beyond this are charged travel time of up to $78.00. We charge under the Support Item Number 15_043_0128_1_3.

Therapeutic wellbeing support is charged at $360.00 (for a 3-hour session). This is inclusive of up to 20km travel during the session, with additional travel attracting a fee.

Our fees are clearly outlined on our FAQs page and are also displayed when booking through Halaxy. If you're using NDIS funding, we recommend confirming that your plan includes appropriate funding before making a booking. We're always happy to provide a quote if required.

Can I use my NDIS funding for counselling?

Possibly. If your NDIS plan includes funding that can be used for counselling or capacity building supports, you may be able to access our services. As every NDIS plan is different, we recommend speaking with your Support Coordinator, Recovery Coach, Plan Manager or NDIA Planner if you're unsure. We're also happy to discuss your circumstances with you.

Do you work with plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants?

Yes. We welcome self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. We may request details of your plan manager to assist with invoicing. At this stage, we are not registered with the NDIS, which means we are unable to provide services to agency-managed participants.

How is your counselling different?

At Balance Counselling & Wellbeing, we believe emotional wellbeing doesn't only happen in a counselling room.

Alongside traditional counselling, we also offer Therapeutic Wellbeing Support, combining professional counselling with practical support in the community. This might include attending appointments, building confidence in social settings, reconnecting with hobbies or practising strategies in real-life situations; all while receiving therapeutic support from a qualified counsellor.

Our approach is strengths-based, recovery-oriented and focused on helping you achieve your personal goals.

Where are counselling sessions held?

We offer flexible counselling options, including:

  • In your home (where appropriate)

  • Walk and Talk counselling

  • In the community

  • Online via telehealth

  • By telephone

How long are counselling sessions?

Standard counselling appointments are 50 minutes, allowing time for therapeutic work while maintaining consistency and focus.

We also offer extended Therapeutic Wellbeing Support sessions (3 hours) for participants who would benefit from combining counselling with practical, community-based support.

What are therapeutic wellbeing support sessions?

Therapeutic Wellbeing Support is a unique service that combines professional counselling with practical support in the community.

Rather than simply talking about challenges, we can work through them together in everyday situations. Sessions may include attending appointments, shopping, community participation, social outings or practising coping strategies in real-life environments; all while receiving therapeutic support from a qualified counsellor.

What qualifications do counsellors have?

All of our practitioners are qualified counsellors and members of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). They are committed to ongoing professional development and adhere to the ACA Code of Ethics and nationally recognised standards of professional practice.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you can contact us directly to book an appointment.

If you're using NDIS funding, we may ask for information about your plan management arrangements to assist with invoicing.
